Huntington Club Saxophone Commission

Club Saxophone of Huntington, Indiana premiered Diane's newly commissioned  piece, Weekend Respite during their 2021 spring and summer season, and also performed the piece at their Evensong Series Concert in September 2021.

Musical - yup, a two-act musical. Bet you didn't think I had it in me!

The Schubert Ladies was presented as a Readers' Theatre, with recorded music, on July 16, 2021 at the First Presbyterian Church Theatre, downtown Fort Wayne. This 'first step' was to kick the tires of the show, so to speak, get feedback from our audience quesionaire, and evaluate the show's flow and length.

As background, Helen, Diane's grandmother, the main character in the show,  was a classically trained violinist, pianist and soprano.  Her scrapbooks came to Diane after her aunt died, and the first part of the process was reading content from it, photographing, documenting, and establishing a timeline, and eventually, gleaning a story based on content from the scrapbook.   Helen was a member of a quartet and toured for two years in the Schubert Ladies Quartet.  The more Diane studied and documented the material, the more it was impressed on her to honor her grandmother's experience in the form of a stage musical.

" Every experience, every person that God brings into our lives,

is the perfect preparation for the future that only He can see."
